On Friday the 9th of March a group of senior students visited the Construction Futures Centre in Belmont which is designed to showcase the building industry to school students. There is a range of displays that invite students to explore all of the different career pathways that are available in the building and construction sector. Many of the displays are interactive and students are invited to use touch screens and complete building and construction tasks as they move around.
Several activities require students to wear Virtual Reality headsets or operate machine simulators. Our group worked with the hands on displays for about two hours and clearly enjoyed the chance to experience what it might be like to work in the building and construction sector.
